Update from Michelle

It was a good weekend with Ted’s mother, sister and our niece coming out to visit. We all got to see Ted moved from Central DuPage Hospital to the Marian Joy Rehabilitation Hospital. The facility takes a limited number of patients as “residents” who live as in patients in the facility until they are at a point that they can be somewhat self-sufficient. We know this is just the first step of a long journey back and we are excited to be on that road.

He received his assessments from the therapy team yesterday and has his first sessions this morning. We expect to hear an estimated dismissal date once they have had a chance to work with him.

For those who wish to send “snail mail” the correct way to address correspondence is:

Ted Waltmire
c/o Marianjoy Rehabilitation Hospital
26 W. 171 Roosevelt Road
Wheaton, Illinois 60187

(No need for the room number – they know where to find him).

For those who wish to visit:

Visiting hours are 11:30 AM – 1 PM (during which time he also receives his lunch)
4 PM – 8 PM ( dinner is served at 5:30 pm)
The facility asks that we try to limit visitors to 2 at a time.

He is still “burning up” his cell phone and loves to pick up those messages. (630-776-6087).
We are working on getting the email / wi-fi access going sometime soon.

  1. Thanks Mary for this forum. From my own post-stroke experience I know that the move to a rehab facility will bring positive change in our Ted. I talked to him by phone several times this past week and each time he sounded better and better. I look forward to coming up to Chicago to visit Ted & Michelle at home (after my summer class).
